Room is a lot like self-imposing trauma. That’s what I told my friend. And that’s what it feels like a lot of the time. But I think it’s really nicely done and beautiful and even funny at times. I admit that I have a soft spot for stories told by unreliable narrators (recently, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Everything is Illuminated), but I really did like it. And I don’t even enjoy kids much, so that’s saying something.

In the world I notice persons are nearly always stressed and have no time…I don’t know how persons with jobs do the jobs and all the living as well…I guess the time gets spread very thin like butter all over the world, the roads and houses and playgrounds and stores, so there’s only a little smear of time on each place, then everyone has to hurry on to the next bit.
